PRE-PLACEMENT PROCEDURE
Prior to admission of any baby to the Centre, the house-parents/administrators will consult with the Children’s Office and the respective hospital’s correspondence. The purpose of the consultation is to obtain all the relevant particulars of the baby who is intended to be placed at the Centre. With this information the Centre prepares for the necessary procedures upon admission.
PLACEMENT PROCEDURE
Following admission of a baby the nurse bathes the child, takes footprints as well as the necessary measurements; length, weight, head circumference. The child is attended to at the Centre’s Isolation Nursery. The visiting doctor medically examines the child and authorities for the necessary tests to be done on an individual basis. The doctor prescribes the medical care of the child and the nurse follows through with the recommendations while observing for any unusual occurrences. The vision is that following successful rehabilitation of the child’s health (and with necessary social work investigations) if no claimants can be traced; the child may be released to an adoptive family or foster care.
REVIEW OF PLACEMENT PLANS
General care plans have been developed for managing the babies. Special care plans will be developed for individual children with special needs. In such cases, the leadership team and the specialists involved may meet to discuss and review each child’s plan as needed.
